Our Favorite Seasonings for Every Flavor of Taco
Versatile, easy to make, and always delicious, tacos are the perfect weeknight meal. From traditional Mexican, to flavorful fish, and even Asian fusion, we have just the right seasoning for every taco combination you might be craving!
We created our Taco Seasoning to capture the classic Mexican flavors found in a traditional taco. Chili peppers, cumin, and oregano combine with onion, garlic, salt, and pepper for the perfect Mexican blend. This seasoning is also incredibly easy to use. Simply add 2 to 3 tablespoons of seasoning per pound of cooked/drained meat along with 2/3 cup of water. Turn heat to medium, and simmer until most water is gone. Top with cheese, tomatoes, avocado, cilantro, chopped onion, etc., and viola! You have dinner!
For a more sweet and smoky flavor, give our Fajita Seasoning a try! Still filled with Mexican flavor, but with the addition of Applewood Smoked Salt and Turbinado Sugar, this blend is sure to treat your tastebuds! Use just the same as our Taco Seasoning.
Or try our favorite option for Mexican Tacos: 1 tbsp Taco Seasoning and 1 1/2 tbsp Fajita Seasoning!
Chicken is a great protein for tacos, especially since it inexpensive and lower in calories. Chicken also lends itself to a variety of flavors, making it easy to customize to just the flavor you are craving.
The lighter “Mexican” flavors found in our Adobo Seasoning make it a wonderful option for chicken and black bean tacos. Sprinkle 1-2 tbsp of Adobo Seasoning over 1 lb. of cooked shredded chicken and 2/3 cup water. Simmer until most of the water is gone. Top with chopped red onion, avocado and cilantro.
Chile Lime Seasoning
Bring authentic South American flavor to tacos with our Chile Lime Seasoning! Spicy citrus combined with subtle earthy tones make this blend a great addition to shredded chicken, as well as shredded beef and pork. Even veggies and shrimp really, it’s just a good seasoning!
Whether ground or shredded, beef is definitely the go-to protein when it comes to tacos. If your taco routine needs a bit of a shake-up, try these seasonings!
For a flavor reminiscent of barbacoa, give our Chimichurri Seasoning a try! Smoky, with the sweetness of bell pepper and a touch of herb flavor, this seasoning combines beautifully with the richness of beef. Use just the same as our Taco Seasoning by adding to cooked beef and water and simmering. For an even more authentic flavor, add in some fresh or canned green chiles while simmering.
A departure from the “traditional” taco, our Greek Seasoning is perfect for mixing things up! Fresh herbs and citrus contrast with spicy cinnamon and nutmeg for authentic Greek flavor. Add 1-2 tbsp of seasoning to 1 lb. cooked/drained ground beef along with 2/3 cup water. Simmer until most of the water is gone. Top your tacos with chopped tomato and cucumber, feta cheese and Tzatziki sauce.
Easy Tzatziki Sauce: Combine 1 cup plain greek yogurt and 1/4 cup finely chopped cucumber. Add in 1 tsp fresh minced garlic, squeeze of lime juice and 1/2-1 tsp dill weed.
Tropical Caribbean flavors are our favorites when it comes to pork tacos. These spicy and citrus filled seasonings are a perfect match for pork’s rich flavor.
Full of Caribbean flavor, our Jamaican Jerk combines the warm, cloying tastes of cinnamon and allspice, with the spiciness of chipotle and cayenne pepper. If you are craving an even spicier flavor, check out our Jamaican Jerk (Hot). (Be warned, its hot.)
Easy Pork and Poblano Tacos: Combine cooked shredded pork with poblano peppers (cut into strips) and pineapple chunks. Add in 1/2 cup pineapple juice and 1 1/2 tbsp Jamaican Jerk. Simmer until most of the liquid is gone. Pop into warmed corn tortillas. Yum!
Just one taste of our Caribbean Spice will have you dreaming of sandy beaches and sunny skies! Bright citrus flavor, combine with classic Caribbean spices like nutmeg and clove, and just the right amount of heat, make this blend one of our absolute favorites. Our Caribbean Spice can be substituted for the Jamaican Jerk in the recipe above. This is also a wonderful blend for shrimp or white fish tacos.
Fish and Shrimp Tacos
Fish and shrimp are quickly becoming our favorite proteins for tacos. We love these foods because they cook up quickly and, like chicken, can be flavored with a variety of different seasonings.
An assemblage of citrus and herb flavors, combined with basics like garlic and black pepper, make for a truly unique seasoning that is great on white fish like tilapia and halibut. If you love traditional fish tacos, this blend is the one for you! Top with your favorite coleslaw for just the right amount of crunch!
Creole Seasoning originated in the Louisiana bayou and is often referred to as Cajun seasoning. Our Creole Seasoning is a blend of black, red and white pepper, along with additional herbs and spices. This blend is a great seasoning for adding a bit of “zing” to tilapia and shrimp tacos. For even more flavor, top your taco with our Southwest Coleslaw.
If you love Cajun flavors, check out our Cajun Spice and Blackened Seasoning, both of which are delicious on catfish, tilapia and shrimp tacos.
The vibrant colors and bright flavors in our Stir-Fry Sprinkle make it a great option for shrimp tacos! Add to a tortilla with jasmine rice, or even fried rice, and top with a drizzle of our Tropical Tsunami or Pineapple Habanero Soy Sauce. Top with cilantro, shredded carrot and even chopped snap peas for a bit of crunch! You can also use our Stir-Fry Sprinkle with shredded chicken or beef to create this Asian fusion taco! Swap out the tortilla for a lettuce wrap for a lower-calorie option.
