Roasts can sometimes seem like a daunting task: too much work for little reward. But even though they take a bit more time, these tougher cuts can be just as delicious as a juicy steak, and even more versatile. One roast can make a week’s worth of different meals.
All-Purpose Roast Blends
These blends are some of our favorites for a variety of roasts, from Prime Rib and pork tenderloin to chuck roast, pork shoulder, and even rack of lamb.
Our Roast Rub gives any roast tremendous flavor. Rosemary is the dominant flavor, with lingering notes of garlic, pepper, and onion. It can be used as a dry rub for any roasted meat including prime rib, pork tenderloin or a simple chuck roast. Roast Rub is one of our favorite seasonings for French Dip Sandwiches.
To make a wet rub, combine equal parts Roast Rub and Olive Oil. Rub over meat prior to cooking to create a nice crust and add an extra texture to any slow roasted meat.
Reach for our Top Shelf Butcher’s Rub whenever you fire up the grill! Smoky, bold pepper flavor, with a touch of sweetness and heat, make this blend a perfect companion to burgers, steaks and pork chops. Top Shelf Butcher’s Rub is also a great blend for larger cuts of meat like brisket, pork shoulder and Prime Rib. You can even rub it on beef roasts destined for the Crock Pot or Instant Pot.
Our Old World Rub brings together all of the flavors of traditional European cooking. Fresh herbs combine with the slight spiciness of black pepper, fennel and brown mustard seed to make a blend that is wonderful on poultry, beef and pork roast, and rack of lamb. It is also a great choice for Thanksgiving turkey and Prime Rib.
If you love flavorful Italian Beef sandwiches, then our Italian Dressing Mix is the perfect blend for you! If you’ve never had one of these delicious hoagies, then this blend is for you too! Our Italian Dressing Mix is a flavorful Italian-style blend of herbs and spices perfect for chuck roast in the crock pot. Be sure to throw in a couple pepperoncini peppers for an extra kick!
For a classic French Onion soup mix flavor, try adding our Onion Party Dip Mix to your next crock pot roast. Savory onion and beef flavor make this blend a great addition to chuck roast, rump roast and stew meat.
Although all of the blends we listed above work well for pork roasts, there are a few others we especially love on these large pork cuts. Whether you are cooking a pork loin or Boston butt on the smoker, or a shoulder in the crock pot, these blends are sure to add tremendous flavor.
One of the very first blends we ever created, our best-selling Pig Tickle is still our go-to seasoning for pork butts on the the smoker or in the cork pot. This simple yet delicious seasoning combines the classic flavors of salt, pepper, onion, garlic, and paprika, with a kick of chipotle. Don’t limit yourself to just pork butts, this blend is great on just about everything!
Tangy mustard flavor with a touch of heat! Our Prairie Gold BBQ Blend is a Carolina-style barbecue blend is perfect for pork butts, ribs and brisket. It also makes a great addition to burgers, or try on whole chicken or wings!
Pronounced “mo-ho,” in Spanish, our Cuban-style Mojo Seasoning combines bright citrus flavors with garlic, cumin and cilantro. Use as rub on pork loin and chops, as well as pork roast for pulled pork tacos. Shake on chicken, fish and veggies. Combine with olive oil and lime juice for a marinade perfect for pork or skirt steak!
Our Green Chili Seasoning Blend balances bold green chili perfectly with classic Mexican flavors for a blend that is as amazing on burgers, eggs and potatoes as it is in a pot of green chili stew! This spicy blend is a great seasoning for pork butts or stew meat, whether you are making green chili stew or pulled pork tacos. Or shake on chicken, pork chops or steak!
Brisket and Beef Roasts
From brisket on the smoker to beef roast in the crock pot, these blends are our favorites for large cuts of beef. For classic barbecue taste, try our All American BBQ and Sweet Chili Maple. Craving more of a black pepper flavor? Then our Black & Bold, Beef Rub and Dalmatian Rub are for you! Our All American BBQ and Sweet Chili Maple also make great seasonings for barbecued beef, while the others offer a great twist on a traditional Philly Cheese steak!
Our smoky, hickory-flavored All American BBQ rub is an excellent addition to any barbecued dish. Notes of orange, cumin and thyme add depth and intensity to this truly unique spice blend. A favorite on brisket, pork butts, and ribs, it makes a wonderful rub on steak, chicken, and corn on the cob, or mix into burgers! Also great on venison and elk!
Sweet Chili Maple seasoning combines three different types of chilies with the distinct sweet and tangy flavor of maple. This intriguing blend is an excellent compliment to the natural savory flavor of red meat. Try on steaks, pork chops, ribs, brisket and burgers.
Our Black and Bold blend definitely has personality! Not one to hide from your taste buds, this seasoning packs a black pepper punch! The fresh flavors of dill and garlic, plus a hint of cayenne, round out this delicious and versatile blend. If you prefer a black pepper flavor over traditional barbecue tang and sweetness, then Black & Bold is for you!
Heavy on the pepper and a little lighter on the sugar, our Beef Rub creates a rich, flavorful, crunchy crust, often referred to as the “bark” by barbecue enthusiasts.
