Easter is a time for remembrance and thanksgiving, as well as celebration and rejuvenation as we look forward to the new Spring season. And what better way is there to give thanks and celebrate than with friends and family around a table of delicious food! From ham and pork loin to carrot cake, here are our favorite seasoning for this Spring time meal.
The Main Course
If ham is on your menu this Easter, we recommend the sweet flavor of our Sweet Chili Maple or Honey BBQ Blend. Rub on the outside of your ham before baking for a sweet and savory crust. If you are planning on cooking a fresh (uncured) ham, give our Brining Spices a try! For a touch of sweetness, add liquid honey or our Honey Granules to your brining solution. Allow at least three days for brining, preferably seven.
Pork loin and Prime Rib are other popular choices for Easter. For a traditional taste, try our Roast Rub or Old World Rub. If you prefer a more barbecue type flavor, our Top Shelf Butchers Rub, Beef Rub or Black & Bold are a great choice. For a lighter, California-style roast with lots of garlic flavor, we recommend our Santa Maria Rub.
Side Dishes
Deviled Eggs
Nothing says “Easter” like a plate of deviled eggs! Our favorite deviled egg recipe is a simple combination of eggs yolks, mayonnaise or Miracle Whip, yellow mustard, and a touch of apple cider vinegar or pickle juice. Shake in some Pig Tickle or Seasoning Salt to taste. For easy filling, fill a pastry bag with a large decorating tip with the yolk mixture, then pipe into egg whites. Sprinkle with Smoked Paprika for a touch of color and smoky flavor.
Green Beans
Green veggies are a staple side for Easter. Their mild flavor also makes a great canvas for a variety of different seasonings. For a lighter, more herbaceous taste, sprinkle on our Santa Maria Rub. This blend’s garlic and dill notes pair perfectly with green beans. If you love dill, but crave a bolder flavor, then our Black & Bold Seasoning is the one for you. For bacon lover’s, our Shake Your Bacon seasoning adds a smoky bacon flavor that works wonders with green veggies. Or try our Homestyle Seasoning for a Southern comfort food feel. This seasoning is also delicious on collard greens.
Scalloped Potatoes
Rich and cheesy scalloped potatoes are the perfect compliment to a juicy slice of ham. For this dish sometimes simple is best. We love a few twists of our 4 Peppercorn Blend to give these potatoes a spicy finish. If you need a bit more flavor, try our Pig Tickle or Beef Rub for a complete blend with extra black pepper. Want even more cheesy goodness? Sprinkle on some White Cheddar Garlic Seasoning or Cheddar Jalapeno Sprinkle!
Carrot Cake
There really isn’t any other dessert for Easter other than carrot cake! This rich, spice-filled cake topped with decadent cream cheese frosting is one of our all-time favorite desserts. So much so, that we designed our Spice Cake Blend with carrot cake in mind. This blend combines the traditional flavors of cinnamon and nutmeg with the surprising additions of cardamom, carrot and pineapple. This makes for a dessert that pairs perfectly with our Toasted Cinnamon Pecan coffee, especially for breakfast the next morning!
