Mediterranean cuisine is characterized by complex flavors and light, fresh ingredients. Citrus, garlic and herbs, along with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, create delicious foods perfect for spring and summer! Here are our favorite seasoning for foods all along the Mediterranean coast:
Italian Flavors
Nothing says “Mediterranean” like Italian food. From crunchy crostinis and pizza to delectable pastas and sausage, there are few cuisines more loved, and imitated, than Italian. Because we love Italian flavors just like everyone else, we have crafted many seasonings for this style of cooking.
Italian Seasoning
Our Italian Seasoning is a blend of six classic Italian herbs: basil, marjoram, oregano, thyme, rosemary, and parsley. This extremely versatile blend should be in everyone’s pantry! Add it to any tomato based sauce and use in dishes such as spaghetti, pizza, or chicken Parmesan. It can also be tossed with olive oil for a quick salad dressing, or mixed with higher quality olive oil for dipping bread. We also love it on eggs, mixed in roasted veggies or potatoes, or sprinkled on pizza crust!
Italian Sausage Seasoning
Our Italian Sausage Seasoning combines the tradition taste of Italian herbs with fennel and a touch of heat. This blend can be used to make your own Italian sausage. Simply add 1-2 tablespoons per pound (depending on personal preference) of ground pork, veal, beef, or wild game, then cook or freeze until use. Or mix it into meatballs!
This seasoning also makes a great addition to red sauces, soups, pasta, and pizza. It is even delicious on veggies and eggs!
Tuscan Herb
Bring the flavors of Tuscany to your table with this tasty herb blend. This classic combination of five popular herbs, along with garlic and red pepper flake, makes a great addition to sauces, soups and pasta dishes. Also try as a seasoning for chicken and fish, or combine with an olive oil for a flavorful salad dressing or bread dip. Salt-free.
Tomato Basil Blend
The fresh flavors of sun-dried tomato and basil, along with other herbs, garlic and citrus, make our Tomato Basil Blend a favorite for poultry, salads and Italian dishes. It also makes a great dressing, bread dip mix or topping for a crostini. Simply mix 1-2 tbsps of seasoning with 1/4 cup olive oil for bread dip mix. For vinaigrette, mix 1-2tbsps seasoning with 1/4 cup olive oil and juice of 1 lemon.
Flavors of France
Herbs de Provence
Herbs de Provence is a traditional blend of spices commonly used in Southern France. Our blend contains Basil, Rosemary, Thyme, Parsley, Lavender, and Savory. Herbs de Provence is a great seasoning for chicken and fish, as well as rich game meats like rabbit and pheasant. Try mixing it with olive oil for dipping bread or as a salad dressing. Also great on pork tenderloin!
Old World Rub
Our Old World Rub brings together all of the flavors of traditional European cooking. Fresh herbs combine with the slight spiciness of black pepper, fennel and brown mustard seed to make a blend that is wonderful on poultry, beef and pork roast, and rack of lamb. It is also a great choice for Thanksgiving turkey and Prime Rib.
Great Greek Flavors
Greek Seasoning
Fresh herbs and citrus contrast with spicy cinnamon and nutmeg for authentic Greek flavor in our Greek Seasoning. Delicious on grilled chicken or fish, or mix into beef or lamb burgers. An obvious seasoning for kabobs and gyros, this blend also makes for an interesting twist on tacos! We also love it on whole roast chicken or in our Wild Rice Soup!
Mojito Lime Seasoning
Our Mojito Lime Seasoning is the perfect way to bring the fresh tastes of summer to every meal! We love the flavors of garlic, mint and citrus in this popular Mediterranean seasoning. Try it on chicken, fish, seafood, veggies, and pork chops. Or sprinkle on green salads, pico de gallo and pasta salads!
Red Rocks Seasoning
The warm, earthy tones in this Mediterranean-style blend inspired us to name it after the iconic Colorado landmark. Our Red Rocks Seasoning combines the authentic Mediterranean flavors of sumac and Aleppo chile with sweet tomato, garlic, coriander and cinnamon to make a truly unique blend that is great on chicken, fish, grilled veggies, soups, and salad. Also try adding to hummus or, our favorite, sprinkle on a bagel with cream cheese!
Za’atar Seasoning
Za’atar Seasoning is a popular condiment throughout North Africa and the Mediterranean. Fresh basil combines with lemony sumac and nutty sesame seed in this unique blend. Add to hummus or mix 1-2 tbsp. Za’atar Seasoning with 1-2 tbsp of olive oil to make a spread or dip mix. Spread on pita bread and toast lightly for a flavorful snack. Also makes a great seasoning for chicken and fish.
Olive Oils & Balsamic Vinegars
Olive Oils
Olive oils and Balsamic Vinegars are a staple of Mediterranean cuisine. Whether they are used to dress salads, glaze meats or saute veggies, these amazing condiments can do so much to enhance a dish. For a classic Italian flavor, try our Roasted Garlic, Parmesan Garlic or Italian Herb olive oils a try. These three flavors, along with our Black Truffle Olive Oil, also make great oils for bread dipping and salad dressings. For a splash of citrus, we recommend our Blood Orange and Meyer Lemon olive oils. These oils add bright, fresh flavor to chicken, fish, veggies, and even baked goods!
Balsamic Vinegars
Our high quality balsamic vinegars are sourced from Modena, Italy. Dark balsamic is known for its complex flavor, syrupy texture, and balanced acidity, while White balsamic vinegar has a crisp, clean flavor and a lighter texture. All of our balsamic vinegars make amazing salad dressings and glazes for a wide variety of meats and veggies. For sweet treat, try topping your next bowl of ice cream with our Cherry, Raspberry or Fig balsamic.
