De Arbol Chilies

Thought to be related to the pequin chile, de arbol chiles are thin-fleshed, with a tannic flavor and searing heat comparable to a serrano or cayenne pepper. De arbol chiles can be found fresh, dried or powdered. As dried chilies, they are often used to decorate wreaths as they do not lose their red color after dehydration. De arbol chiles can be added to salsas, chiles, stews, and sauces for extra flavor and spice.
