Onion granules are a great substitute for fresh onion when you need flavor but not texture. Add to soups, stews and other slow-cooked dishes. Use onion granules in place of onion powder when your recipe calls for more bulk and thickness. Soak in water for 15-20 minutes to rehydrate. Drain off the water and add a small amount of cool water to make a paste. This paste can then be added to the dish near the end of cooking.
